NYC Roundabout Theatre

THE NEW ROUNDABOUT THEATRE 2007-2008 SEASON

THE 39 STEPS

Go back in time to an era of mystery, suspense and a twist of comedy in the newly adapted play “The 39 Steps”. As suspicion rises as to what The 39 Steps are, the main character finds himself on the run from being a suspect and is anxiously trying to clear his name and solve the homicidal case of a mysterious stranger.

Based from the mystery novel and Alfred Hitchcock’s movie masterpiece, this comic-adventurous journey, starring the multi-talented cast of 4 ingenious actors, brings to life all the unique characters along the path to freedom, creating spoofs and parodies of other Hitchcock movies and presents the setting with special lighting and props that stimulates your imagination and really brings back the art of theatrical acting. Newly adapted by Patrick Barlow and brilliantly directed by Maria Aitken, who choreographed the actor’s circus talents beautifully, The 39 Steps should not be missed in this limited engagement. The 2007 Olivier Award Winning production is a must see and is what makes Broadway theater worth going to.

SUNDAY IN THE PARK WITH GEORGE

Inspired by the Neo-Impressionist masterpiece “Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte”, the life of Georges Seurat and his paintings come to life in the Olivier Award Winning production and Broadway revival of Sunday in the Park with George.

Daniel Evans and Jenna Russell reprise their Olivier Award winning roles as the real life artist, Georges Seurat and his lover, Dot and how art comes before love in the eyes of Seurat. With stunning visual effects and animation that glorifies the vibrant art world, the characters of the painting bring to life the fantasy world of Seurat’s paintings and their separate lives and fictional stories as it could have been during the turn of the century. With the beautiful melodies by Stephen Sondheim and artistically directed by Sam Buntrock, Sunday in the Park with George will have all audiences alike appreciating art in it’s form and remembering the importance of love.

"A BRILLIANT PRODUCTION OF SONDHEIM'S BEST MUSICAL. Spectacular, beautifully acted, moving, funny, glamorous, and intelligent. One of the most original creations of 20th century theatre. A thrillingly accomplished achievement."
- The Times

"In this STIRRING REVIVAL, two people and two generations connect in a fusion of heart and head that mirrors the love affair between this show and its audience."
- Ben Brantley, The NY Times

"A MASTERPIECE! One of the most daring, thrilling, and moving musicals you are ever likely to encounter."
- The Daily Telegraph
